When 4-4-0 D-16sb "American"-type locomotive No. 1223, built by the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1905, was leased to the Strasburg Rail Road sixty years later, she became famous. In addition to hauling thousands of happy tourists each year, the little engine appeared in many movies (including "Hello, Dolly") and television commercials. She is shown near Strasburg, Pennsylvania, on October 1, 1969, when she was working a period freight train for a movie company. Since retired, the 4-4-0 can be seen at the State Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania.
